What We Believe

What We Believe

Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.

Belief About God

God is love, power, and splendor—and God is a mystery. His ways are far beyond us, but He still reaches out to us. God is infinite yet intimate, three yet one, all-knowing yet all-forgiving.

Belief About Jesus

Jesus became human to save us. Through Him—our helper, advocate and redeemer—we can begin again. He is preparing heaven for us and will return to take us there.

Belief About Salvation

We believe that God redeems. Love. Harmony. Perfection. Once, all creation sang the same glorious song.

Belief in the Church

We are one body. Jesus left his followers with an epic mission: To tell the world of His love and His promise to return. They should also love people the way He loved them. Entrusting humans with His message was a bold and risky move. But even though God knew people would often fail Him and even distort His truth, He wanted to work with us.

The Scriptures

We believe that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God,” and is our source for faith and living. We believe the scriptures to be, what is commonly known as the Bible.

Belief in The Trinity

We believe that God eternally exists in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit who all have complete unity and distinctness, nature and personality and work in perfect Oneness. We believe Jesus to be the Son of God and the one who, as fully human and fully divine, gave his life as the ultimate expression of love. This life, death and resurrection paved the way for humans to enter heaven. We believe the Holy Spirit to indwell all true Believers. He inspires, convicts, encourages and guides us. We believe the Father to be the Ultimate Holy Sovereign Benevolent and Just Ruler, Creator of everything that has, is or will be. We believe that the true God is the God of the Bible.

Belief in The Ten Commandments

The ten commandments reveal God’s will and love for us. Its guidelines tell us how to relate to God and others. Jesus lived out the law as both our example and perfect substitute.
